Oh I almost forget...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHAMI!!!

You are 21!!!!

Im not sure if youre one of my regular blog readers.. dont think i have tt many i know.. guess your not Jobless enough.. good for you.. better than all the other Losers who read my blog..

The Elusive internship.. and Bloomberg bastards

So.. Bloomberg got back to me.. and guess what? They gonna pursue a different candidate.. Are they Crazy? I'm sure.. ard mid-May, the Bloomberg managers are gonna be saying:

"What happened to that striking Handsome Sri Lankan Chinese Chap? He would have been perfect for this job.. We're such Losers for letting him go!!".

Anyways.. Thank god i have good EQ.. I'm already over it.. preparing for the next round of interviews..

Thursday 930am HP research and Development - Now this is gonna be a bugger of an interview. The description of the job (this time i actually checked what the interview was for, unlike the Bloomberg) is to Model the Pressure loss along a fluid path in a Printer Cartridge (to improve the theoritcal pressur loss for an ink delivery system).. Huh??? Ok.. most of you have no idea abt stuff like this.. but as a trained Mechanical Engineer.. its part of my Forte.. now heres the bitch - I get called and emailed on Monday night about the interview placement, so im all happy - My ego going above the scales now - but then i get called today ard 7pm:

Mr. Byron, can you please send me your Results slip?

Dammit- this brings me back to last month, when A*star (a on campus research compnay) asked me to send my results. Rejected in less than 2 hrs after i sent my results. The only thing that scares me is now.. if HP calls me tmw and withdraws my applciation.

Through these hard times.. I need constant assurance.. But what to do? i need to wow them with my interview.. so tmw is reserved for my Revision - assuming they dont reject me tmw morning. hehe

Tony Jaa is F@#King Awesome!!

Tony Jaa brings Realism into Martial Arts movies which has been Lacking since Bruce Lee..

Filling Bruce Lee's shoes has been one of the hardest tasks for any young martial artist. Over the past 2 decades we seen the emergent of Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Samo Hung (Hahaha fat bastard) and afew others from the Asian movies scene. They had moderate success with Jackie Chan proving that he can only have a box office if hes partnered with either Chris Rock or Owen Wilson. Jet Li, without strings attached, is just normal.

I know i have a midterm tme and a few assignments due on Tue, but My blog wouldnt be a blog without a post on Tony Jaa. Alright, i admit, the acting in his movies is pretty lame, but is compensated by some of the most amazing fight scenes i've seen in a long time.

Tony Jaa uses his own fighting style (which he adopted by watching elephants), and they way he executes his moves.. WOW!!! The first time i saw him was Ong Bak - i was recommended this movie around a year back, but i held myslef back watching it.. was doubtful of Thai martial arts movies - but once i did watch it, I was an instant Fan.. and kept searching all over for his follow up movie - "Tom Yum Goong", and i was dissapointed. Although the acting was terrible, the fighting left me breathless.. And for all you guys wondering, there were no special effects or stunt men - Tony Jaa follows the list of Asian actors who refuse Special effects. and unlike jackie Chan and Jet Li - Tony Jaa is no graduate of the Chinese School of Opera (where they teach aspiring actors to fly on strings and do acrobatics). If you manage to get the original DVD of ong Bak (alternativle try downloading it) please dont forget to watch the making of Ong Bak. Its equally as exciting as the movie..

I thought I would never say this - Tony Jaa may well be the next Bruce Lee

Blooming Bloomberg

Well, I got my search for a summer internship off in grand style.

My first proper interview for a career and which company was it.. BLOOMBERG.. damn my ego was on cloud no.9 this weekend. They called me to come to the company, which was a shocker, as their protocol requires them to have a phone interview before candidates are called. My ego kept rising!!

The interview went today.. and boy i started off badly.. problem was, i applied for all the internship positions available, and i failed to inquire when i got called, wat was the interview for.. so i go into the room with the interviewer.. smiling like a jackass.. and here is a brief extract;

Interviewer : So, What position do you think this interview is for?

Byron : i applied for 3 positions; Project management, Sales and data analyst. But my first choice is Project Management.

Interviewer : Well, every thing we do here (bloomberg) is called a project.. my job here is the cordination of facilities in the Asia-Pacific region.. blah blah blah..

Around this time.. i knew i didnt make the best of first impressions.. as i didnt even know what i applied for.. best like always.. I bounced back well.. i let him know my experience in organization and operations.. why i'll make the best candidate.. And i think i did quite well, but i dont make the decision of offering me the job. I'll get to know if i make it to the 2nd interview by 1st week April.. so please keep praying for me.. i know you guys want the best for me..

But, i got rejected by other companies. I'm an engineer (honestly) and ideally i need to do a engineering internship.. But i keep getting rejected by engineering companies..

A*Star DSI Labs : next door to where i live.. they send me an email asking me to choose and rank the projects o wish to do.. and send in my results slips (yikes!!) so i did, 6 hrs later..
"I'm sorry, we have found other candidates more suitable for the positions" . But on the bright side.. everyone i know got rejected from there.

Sclumberger : I really wanted this one.. its an internship in the oil and gas industry.. "we feel that at the present time we do not have a position available that would satisfy both our needs"
Dammit!!!

I think these compnaies take great pride in finding a euphemisms for "You Suck, Muahahahaha"

Toshiba Sucks!!

So, since the last post.. i managed to get back my Toshiba laptop, eveything worked fine.. installed my software.. downloaded around 10 movies (i managed to get hold of the Oscar best movie nominees), music etc.. everything back to normal.. until the Following friday..

*Cooling Fan ERROR.. Please Shut Down*

and thats the last i saw of my laptop.. 3 months ago i would have defended Toshiba laptops, as mine havent crashed for 2 and a half years.. but when it did.. i kept on crashin. I couldnt take it anymore.. Apparently, my friends Toshiba laptops also had simialar problems.. hard disk scratched.. cooling fan (this seems to be a common problem, all my friends who have Toshibas say that when they keep thr laptop on for over 6hours, thr would be a noise coming from the processor). My advice is.. SELL before your warranty finishes. and hope to God that when u put it on for your buyer, thr will be no noise.

So, now my laptop is with the Toshiba service centre.. for the last 1.5 weeks.. bloody hell.. good thing is the impulsive shopper in me, went and bought a desktop.. best decision i have made.. cost me $1000 (hopefully can recover at least $800 once i sell my laptop). here are the specs:

P4 2.8Ghz processor
G-byte Motherboard (intergrated graphics and sound)
1GB RAM
80 GB HD
Imation DVD-RW
Acer 17inch LCD

Hopefully, i can save up and get a Graphics card during the coming holidays..
