Final Year Jitters..

So, yesterday i met my Final Year Project (FYP) professor.. from the picture on the website.. he seemed a very laid back guy.. the term "Dont judge a book by its cover" applies here.. Boy, was i wrong..

The following is the dialog of our first 5min of conversation:

Prof: So where do you stand in class?
Me: in terms of Academics?
Prof: yes
Me: I got a CAP of 3.5
Prof: (shakes his head to the side) Thats not good...
Me: Well Sir, i received a SAP of 4.5 last sem
Prof: (slight smile) thats ok, but a bit late...
Me: I was occupied in my first 2 years with varsity rugby and hall activities..
Prof: Its impt to balance your academics and activities.. but you prioritized your studies a bit too late.. I shall see if the project needs adjustment to your academic level..

Errrr, So if everyone says that your Grade depends if your prof likes you or not.. this is not a very good start in first impressions.. but what can i expect from a guy who has a PhD from MIT... In my defence, i think he was impressed with the eagerness i showed by taking the early initiative of contacting him..

So we had a long chat.. i ran a disk clean up and defragmented his computer (not bad for a 4th year bachelor student showing a MIT PhD how to speed up his comp)... i noticed a lot of things.. he had the most tidy room in all the professor room's i've been. All the files in place, books on the shelves.. table empty.. a contrast to my design prof whose shelves were overflowing and had to resort to the floor as storage for his books... but FYP prof seems very agitated, thoughout our conversation he kept playing with an electric show polisher.. unconsiously taking the components apart and putting it back together.. and when a tiny ant mades its way on his table.. he lost concentration and forgot what he wa talking about..

Well, i guess i got 9 months more to make an impression.. and i'm always a last minute impression kinda guy.. lets hope he doesnt read Blogs during his spare time
